The Addams Family comes to Kilcock GAA

A magnificently macabre musical comedy, The Addams Family takes to the stage on Tuesday 23rd April at Kilcock GAA, presented by Kilcock Musical & Dramatic Society (KMDS).

The show was created by an award-winning team that includes authors Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice (Jersey Boys), composer-lyricist Andrew Lippa (Big Fish) and is based on characters created by Charles Addams.  The production promises to delight audiences with humour, an original story, song and dance, and all your favourite Addams Family characters.

In the kooky, upside-down world of the Addams Family, a grave crisis is brewing. It is every father’s worst nightmare but in reverse. Daughter Wednesday, the ultimate Princess of Darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a “normal” young man, Lucas Beineke, from a respectable family— a man her parents have never met! Worse, the romance seems to have turned the steadfastly gloomy Addams girl downright cheery, leaving her family very worried and distressed. And if that weren’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before – keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Comic chaos reigns when they host a dinner for Wednesday’s new boyfriend and his parents so they can become better acquainted with the entire Addams Family.

The KMDS production stars many well-known faces to the KMDS stage: Aoife Small as Morticia, the vampiric matriarch of the Addams clan; Karl Dawson as Gomez, her devoted husband; Megan Pottinger as Wednesday; Charlie Reid as Pugsley; Stephen Fagan as Uncle Fester; Marie Kelly as Grandma, Sean Hendley as Lurch, Jordan Bass as Lucas; and Dominic Reid and Sharon Murphy as Mal and Alice Beineke.

A band of spirited ancestors from diverse past generations also haunt the scenes.  The ancestors include: Niamh Barker, Emily Kate Boyce, Maeve Cunningham, Eoin Byrne Doyle, Cian Fowler, Maria Fowler, Alanna Keane, Anne Keogh, William Lacey, Kate Leslie,   Carol Mannion, Molly Martin, Lauren McDermott, Trish McMahon, Lorraine Murphy, Melissa Noone, Mairead O’Sullivan, James Place, Roisin Reddy, Fiona Shirran, Sarah-Jane Smith, Aaron Stone, Abby Webb, Katie White and Lisa Younge.

The Addams Family is brought to the stage under the expert direction of Art McGauran, music director, Mairead McKenna and choreographer Deirdre Browne; the same production team that brought you the KMDS AIMS nominated ‘Sister Act’.

The Addams Family opens on Tuesday 23rd April and runs to Saturday 27th April, nightly at 8:00pm.  General admission is €18; with group rates available.  Kilcock GAA is located at Branganstown, Kilcock.  (Note: KMDS are no longer located at St. Josephs Hall).
